A Journey by Water by Russell Edson

Although I grew up a block away from a river and many kids sailed their sailboats, I never was taken by sailboats.  I neither wanted to own a sailboat or even ride in a sailboat.  Being a sailor was of absolutely no interest to me.  I sense my lack of affinity for sailing and sailboats in this Russell Edson piece.

 A Journey by Water
When we set sail I had no idea that the sails would bloat with wind like a pregnant woman.
I brought this to the attention of the Captain.
He adjusted my offended modesty by saying that the sails were married, and that by no means would he allow prostitutes to bear us forth.

An immediate applause broke from my hands.
