Moderan by David R. Bunch - Introduction

INTRODUCTION

The introduction is the first chapter of Moderan, an overview to the world inhabited by Moderan man, where the narrator is an essence man, a beam man (type of computer?) looking back on those past ages of Moderan man via a number of tapes he found in a box washed up on shore.  Turns out, the tapes are made by a Moderan man describing his new, plastic covered world.

Here's a quote from what essence man has to say about his own life and the world of Moderan man: "Yes, we are the essence people, a long way up the world from the world that these tapes told of. We truly have gained the immortality that these knaves could only dream of. CRUDE! Oh, yes, crude they were, and yet they had a certain verve and élan, surely, as evinced by these things a "King" set down, a kind of clown "King" certainly, but oh, so serious all the same. He was self-centered - who could doubt it?"

There must have been 46 tapes since there are 46 chapters. Moderan! What a world. What a story. What a fantastic ride for any reader. I'll be writing a short review for each chapter - a creative project well worth the time.
